Sex Comics Reddit: the official Mr. Porn Geek review

You’ll likely all know that I’ve made a lot of steps over the last year or so to truly understand the comic, hentai and rendered porn niche. That’s why today, I’m pretty happy to be talking to you about Sex_Comics. As the name might suggest, this is all about XXX fun where none of the action is ‘real’, it’s all drawn! Do note that the art style here is less hentai and more Western (think The Simpsons and Family Guy), but I think that’s fine for anyone who’s looking for great porn comics! Anyhow, I’m keen to get down to business and tell you all about Sex Comics, so continue reading and I’ll give you my full, high IQ review!

The metrics of /r/Sex_Comics

All of my subreddit reviews begin with a little objective analysis, so let’s kick things off here with a look at the numbers – that’s typically the best way to see how well a particular destination performs. For a start, Sex_Comics was created in May of 2012, making it well over 7 years of age at the time of writing this review. Since its birth, this subreddit has collected a total of just over 170,000 followers – quite a decent number and it’s certainly within the top 250 NSFW Reddit communities if we’re just looking at how many subscribers they have. Now, perhaps the most important figure for any subreddit is the rate of new material – we can check this here on /r/Sex_Comics by hitting the new tab at the top of the page. Mr. Porn Geek was incredibly disappointed to see that in the last 15 days, just 25 new entries have been made. This is one of the worst performing subreddits out there if we look at the link rate – sad!

Okay, so what about the content? We’ve established you don’t get much of it, but is the quality anything to write home about? For the purposes of testing the goodies, Mr. Porn Geek is going to look at the highest rated links of all time. I try to stick to monthly or yearly blocks, but I’m slightly concerned that the slow submission rate will leave a lot to be desired. Most of the comics are hosted on Imgur, which is pretty cool and about what I’d expect. Some of them are really long too, such as The Man, the Myth, the Mancin which clocks in at over 300 different pages! I also liked this comic called Rowena the Barbarian – the artwork is fantastic and as far as porn comic storylines go, I’ve got nothing to moan about.

Final thoughts on Sex Comics at Reddit

How would I rate my experience at Sex Comics? Look: there are lots of Reddit communities out there that I think people should subscribe to if they’re looking for regular flows of material – Sex_Comics isn’t one of them. This is the type of community that you look at once or twice a year, at most, and see the highest rated submissions. It’s such a shame that it updates so slowly, otherwise I could really see myself giving Sex_Comics a top-tier recommendation. For now though, it’s just not in that spot.
