Mr. Porn Geek visits Reddit’s porn collection

Some subreddits have pretty ambiguous names that don’t really specify what they’re about in the title. We’re talking about the likes of OnOff, PAWG and FreeUse here – people have to guess what they’re in store for unless they already know the theme of the subreddit. In this review, Mr. Porn Geek is going to be introducing you to a Reddit community that doesn’t need any previous knowledge for an understanding of what will feature: we’re talking about /r/Porn. Okay, so it might have a generic name and in theory, allow anything that anyone would consider to be pornographic – I guess I better take a look around and see what’s going on here as a result of that fact!

First impressions of /r/Porn

Crunching the numbers on this particular subreddit, I was able to determine that it was created in Jan of 2008 and since its inception, a total of just under 500,000 people have signed up to see the content that it has to offer. If we go ahead and sort content based on submission date, we’ll see that /r/Porn is one of the most active places around, with 25 new posts in the last 4 hours. This means that you get around 150 fresh pieces of content to look at on a daily basis – it certainly ranks in the top 10% of places when it comes to frequency of new content, that’s for sure. Is the smut good, though? I suppose it’s time for Mr. Porn Geek to put Reddit’s porn area to the test.

Testing porn at /r/Porn

Since this subreddit has had so much content pumped into it over the last few years, I figured it would be best to just look at the top rated material within the last week. /r/Porn has a nice mixture of pornography here, but it does appear to be almost entirely video-based. GFYCat submissions had 22 out of the top 25 spots, with the other 3 coming by way of Imgur GIFV embeds (I’m not a fan of using Imgur for videos – it has very limited functionality). Almost all of the porn was also cross-posted from places like DirtySmall, AnalVidz, NSFW, MILFPornX and even Public – quite the variety of adult entertainment if you ask me! I looked at 10 clips and enjoyed them all: they ranged anywhere from 20 seconds to 60 seconds in length.

The conclusion on Porn at Reddit

I’ve been following the /r/Porn subreddit for a number of years on my own personal account and yeah – I think it’s safe to say that this place is real good when it comes to giving you access to adult clips from a variety of different subreddits. In fact, /r/Porn is exclusively submissions from other porn subreddits: you can’t submit anything here directly.
