Tobias

Research Analyst at MrPornGeek

Tobias is the one who figures out what we should be covering next. He digs into niches, watches what’s happening across the industry, and puts together the briefs that the writers work from. Without him the content team would basically be guessing.

Role at MrPornGeek

Tobias handles research and content strategy at MrPornGeek. His job is working out what topics and niches are worth covering, what gaps exist on the site, and what the writers should be focusing on next. He builds the briefs, sets the direction, and hands everything over to William and Steve to write up. He also keeps tabs on what other sites are doing – not to copy them but to spot opportunities they’ve missed or areas where we can do it better. On top of that he monitors new platforms launching, industry shifts, and trends that might be worth getting ahead of. He’s basically the reason the content on this site stays relevant instead of going stale.

Professional experience

  • Content Researcher & Strategist - MrPornGeek - 2021 - Present

Runs all the research that feeds into what gets written on the platform. Identifies new niches, builds detailed briefs for the writing team, tracks what's performing and what isn't, and keeps an eye on the wider industry so the site stays ahead of the curve. Also flags older content that's lost its edge and needs refreshing.

  • Content Researcher - Large-Scale Digital Platforms - 2018 - 2021

Three years doing research on big content-driven sites. Got very good at spotting gaps, understanding what audiences are actually looking for, and putting together briefs that writers can run with without a load of back and forth. Learned how to prioritise properly too - there's always more to cover than there is time to cover it, so knowing what matters most is half the job.

  • Research Assistant - Media & Publishing - 2016 - 2018

Where he got started. Spent two years supporting editorial teams with research, fact-checking, and pulling together background material for articles. Not the most exciting role on paper but it taught him how to dig into a topic properly and come back with something actually useful rather than surface-level fluff.

Research approach

Tobias doesn’t just Google something and call it a day. When he researches a niche he goes deep – looking at what’s out there, what’s missing, what angle would actually be useful, and whether it’s worth the writing team’s time. He’s ruthless about prioritising too. There’s always a hundred things that could be written but he focuses on the stuff that will actually make a difference to the site. Every brief he hands over is detailed enough that a writer can pick it up and get going without needing to come back with twenty questions. That saves everyone time and keeps content moving out the door consistently.

Ongoing work & freshness

The adult industry moves fast. New platforms pop up, old ones disappear, trends shift constantly. Tobias keeps on top of all of it so the site doesn’t fall behind. He’s always looking at what’s new, what’s changed, and what we haven’t covered yet. He also goes back through existing content regularly – if a review is outdated or a niche has shifted he’ll flag it and put together an updated brief so the writers can sort it out. Nothing just gets published and forgotten about.

Tools & workflow

He’s got his own setup of research tools, trend trackers, and competitor monitoring stuff that he uses daily. Everything feeds into the content briefs which get handed to the writing team through the editorial workflow. He works closely with William and Steve to make sure what he’s researching lines up with what they can realistically deliver. No point identifying fifty new topics if the team can only get through ten that month – he plans around capacity not just opportunity.
