Hannah

QA Specialist at MrPornGeek

Hannah is the one who makes sure nothing on MrPornGeek is broken, buggy, or behaving weirdly. She tests every corner of the platform across devices and browsers, so by the time you’re using the site, everything works exactly how it’s supposed to

Role at MrPornGeek

Hannah’s our QA person. Basically, she goes through the site and finds all the stuff that’s broken or acting weird before any of you lot ever see it. Think of it this way, we’ve got thousands of pages on here. Things get updated constantly. Links break, layouts go wonky, new features don’t always play nice with every browser or phone out there. That’s where Hannah comes in. She goes through it all. Desktop, mobile, tablets, the lot. If something’s not right, she’ll find it. She works with the devs and the editorial team day to day. Nothing goes live on the site unless Hannah’s had a proper look at it first. Saves us a lot of angry emails, trust me.

Professional experience

QA Specialist — MrPornGeek — 2021 – Present
She tests every update we push out. Checks that pages look right, links work, nothing’s exploding on Safari or some random Android browser from 2019. Works directly with our developers whenever we’re rolling out changes – makes sure everything’s nailed down
before it hits the live site.

Quality Assurance Analyst – Digital Platforms – 2018 – 2021
Before joining us, she spent three years doing QA on other big web platforms. Same sort of deal – testing releases, writing up bugs, chasing developers until things were properly sorted. Not just “yeah we’ll look at it” sorted. Actually fixed.

Junior QA Tester – Web & SaaS Applications – 2016 – 2018
Where she got started. Loads of manual testing, breaking things on purpose across different setups, writing up exactly what went wrong and why. Learned early on how to explain a bug to a developer without making anyone want to throw their laptop out the window.

How she tests

Scripts and automated checks are grand for some things, but they miss a lot. Hannah goes through the site like an actual person would. Clicking links, navigating around, trying stuff on her phone, resizing windows, all of it. That’s how you catch the annoying problems. A menu that overlaps something on iPhone. A button that’s technically there but looks like it’s been shoved off-screen. Navigation that works but makes zero sense. You don’t find that with automation. You find it by actually using the thing.

Ongoing work

The site never stays the same for long. We’re always adding new stuff, tweaking things, updating templates. So Hannah’s never really “finished” – she just moves on to whatever’s changed next. Even when it’s something small like a layout tweak or a button getting moved, that still needs checking. What looks fine on a big monitor might be a total mess on someone’s phone. She catches that sort of thing before it becomes your problem.

Tools & how she works

She’s got her own setup of testing tools, browser environments, and device simulations – basically recreating how people actually visit the site from all kinds of different devices. When something’s broken, there’s a system. Find it, reproduce it, write it up, hand it to the devs, chase them if needed. No messing about.

What she does for MrPornGeek

Tests bugs across the whole site · checks new features before they go live, makes sure things work on every browser and device we can think of, backs up the dev team when we’re pushing updates out the door
