Alishia
Frontend Developer at MrPornGeek
Alishia’s the reason stuff on MrPornGeek actually works when you click it. The design side makes it look good, she makes it function. Pages loading properly, layouts not falling apart on your phone, buttons doing what they’re supposed to – all her.
Role at MrPornGeek
Alishia writes all the frontend code here. New design comes in, she’s the one who builds it. A feature needs adding, she codes it up. Something looks strange on mobile, she fixes it. She spends most of her time between the design side and the backend team, wiring everything together so it all works as one. There’s a lot of back and forth – can we do this, will that break on Safari, that animation is going to tank the page speed – that sort of thing. Every day is different but the job is basically the same: make the site work and make it fast.
Professional experience
-
Frontend Developer - MrPornGeek - 2020 – Present
Writes and maintains all the frontend code. Takes designs, turns them into pages, makes sure they don't fall apart on weird browsers or old phones. She's involved every time we push an update — checking her code, testing it, making sure it plays nice with everything else before it goes live.
-
Frontend Developer - Large-Scale Content Platforms - 2017 - 2020
Three years building frontends for big content sites. Hundreds of templates, tight performance budgets, no room for messy code. She got good at building reusable stuff that didn't need babysitting after launch. Also learned pretty quickly that cutting corners on frontend always catches up with you eventually.
-
Junior Web Developer - Digital Agencies - 2015 - 2017
Where she started. Clients would send over a design file and she'd have to turn it into a working site, usually by yesterday. Tight deadlines, fussy clients, lots of HTML and CSS and JavaScript. Nothing fancy but it drilled the basics in hard. She still uses that foundation every day.

Development approach
She keeps things simple. No point using a massive framework when twenty lines of vanilla JavaScript does the same job. Her code is clean enough that someone else could jump in and actually follow what’s going on – no spaghetti, no mystery functions, no what-does-this-even-do moments. She tests everything properly before it goes near the live site. Different phones, different browsers, different screen sizes. And she’s always checking in with the designer to make sure what she’s built actually matches what was designed – because there’s nothing worse than something that looks great in Figma and then falls flat in the browser.
Ongoing work & freshness
The frontend never sits still. New stuff goes up all the time, old pages need updating, templates get swapped out. Alishia’s in the codebase pretty much every day. She also goes back through older code when she gets a chance – clearing out anything that’s gotten sluggish or messy, tightening things up, keeping page speeds in check. The site keeps growing so there’s always something that needs attention. What worked six months ago might need rethinking now that we’ve added three new sections.
Tools & workflow
VS Code is home. Git for version control. Chrome DevTools when she needs to dig into something. Whatever build tools and frameworks suit the job – she’s not married to any one stack. Everything goes through proper review before it hits the live site. She works alongside QA and coordinates with the backend team so nothing clashes. No one pushes code without it being checked first – that’s just how we do things here.
